Abstract

The fibrosarcoma is a common neoplasm in the dog, its origins mesenchymal cell and consistis in malignant tumor of fibroblasts. The most common sites for this tumor are the skin and subcutis, oral and nasal cavity. The BCG has been utilized in tumors to induce local inflammatory reaction and tumor reduction. The purpose of this report is to describe the neoadjuvant treatment with BCG of fibrosarcoma in a nasal cavity in dog. The immunotherapy with BCG promoted citoreduction required for surgical removal of all visible tumor mass, and the patient was evaluated every three months for radiography to check for possible recurrence and metastasis. There was clinical recovery and survival of the animal for four years, then when there was local recurrence.
