Abstract

The vascular disease occurs with relevance in veterinary medicine likeness in medicine. In horses, the jugular vein thrombophlebitis is one of these diseases, with high incidence, mainly by reason of the easiness approach to this vein, being considered the first choice for intravenous applications and blood collection. As the jugular veins are the main blood vessels of draining of the cephalic region, the compromising of these can lead since simple edema regional of the head until the death of the animal. This revision has for purpose to describe the general phenomena that occur in the hemostasis and thrombosis, concerning the physiopathology of the jugular vein thrombophlebitis in horses.
