Abstract

Mammary hyperplasia is a benign alteration of the mammary gland, characterized by an overgrowth of the parenchyma, after stimulation of endogenous or exogenous progestational substances. Corresponds to a mastopathy observed mostly in young female cat. As it is extensive lesion, in recent years, alternative therapies to mastectomy have been tested, like progesterone antagonist drugs. In this context, this paper reported eight cases of queens suffering from mammary hyperplasia and treated with aglepristone. Based on the results, the used protocol showed to be a feasible and safe treatment for feline mammary fibroepithelial hyperplasia.
