Abstract

Due to the lack of anatomical descriptions from angiology and topographic innervation of the face in the southern tiger cat (Leopardus guttulus), this study reports the findings of dissection in an adult male specimen from free wild life with such approach. Since from the results obtained it was observed that the macroscopic anatomical findings of the superficial veins of the face of the specimen of L. guttulus revealed great similarity with descriptions in carnivores, however with small topographical differences that may due to anatomical variations or even to adaptations evolutionary. The anatomy of the facial nerve revealed the same origin of the other carnivores, but differing in the amount of ramifications, without observing the stylohyoid branch and the marginal mandibular branches.
