Abstract

Dystocia is a common complication during parturition in dogs and cats, which can be either functional (uterine inertia) or obstructive (maternal or fetal causes). When medical treatment is insufficient, cesarean section is often indicated to ensure the survival of the mother and puppies. This case report describes the successful application of a total intravenous anesthesia protocol associated with locoregional blockade during a cesarean section in a bitch with dystocia.
