The tenectomy of medial head of the deep digital flexor tendon was performed in three horses
with dorsal pastern joint hindlimb subluxation . After a vertical incision of the skin,
subcutaneous and metatarsal fascia on the medial side of the hindlimb, distally to the
“chestnut”, the tendon was isolate through the incision and 3 cm was transected proximally its
union with the deep digital flexor tendon. Finally the fascia and skin was closed. The technic
provide relief of the signs within one week after surgery and is an alternative in case of dorsal
pastern joint hindlimb subluxation.
