Abstract

After the mammary gland neoplasms in bitches, tumors of vulva and vagina are the most
commonly observed in cancer routine, representing approximately 2.4 to 3% of canine
tumors. This paper describes a case of vaginal fibroma in a mongrel dog, twelve years old.
The patient belonged to an animal shelter and exhibits a volume increase in the vaginal
region. The results of clinical examination and laboratory allowed the realization of
successful surgical excision and histopathological diagnosis of fibroma, with excellent
recovery and survival. Although the literature report that vaginal and vulvar fibroids are
uncommon in dogs, it is clear the need to carry out specific diagnosis in the presence of tumor
masses in this region.
