Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the electrophoretic profile of plasma proteins and
differentiate the protein fractions of emus. Samples of plasma collected from a couple,
processed by the biuret technique and agarosis gel electrophoresis. Found values of 5.30 g/dL
and 4.10 g/dL of total plasma proteins and 0.67 and 0.81 for the relationship between albumin
and globulins, for the female and male respectively. At the differentiation of fractions, we
found the presence of prealbumin, albumin, one alpha-globulin, two beta-globulin fractions
and one gamma globulin fraction, for both animals.
