Abstract

Dermatofilosis is a contagious disease, of zoonotic character, that affects mainly cattle, sheep, and horses but also goats and pigs, caused by bacteria Dermatophilus congolensis. The present report describes dermatofilosis clinical and epidemiologic aspects, diagnosis and treatment in eight Brahman and five Nelore cattle, kept under feedlot regimen in Pardinho and Botucatu, State of São Paulo. Skin lesions samples were submitted to cytological, microbiological and histopathological examination, and confirmed the diagnosis of dermatofilosis.
