Abstract

The aim of the present study was to verify the prevalence of bovine tuberculosis coming from different regions of Espírito Santo State. The data were given by Instituto de Defesa Agropecuária e Florestal do Espírito Santo (IDAF). 32,052 bovines coming from a variety of municipal districts of Espírito Santo State were examined. 163 animals showed positive results to tuberculosis, diagnosed under the PNCEBT rules (Brucellosis and Tuberculosis Control and Eradication National Program). The prevalence of bovine tuberculosis was higher in the northern (1.41%), followed by the southern (0.62%), northwest (0.38%), and metropolitan area (0.32%). The prevalence of bovine tuberculosis found in the entire state was 0.54% demonstrating the importance of this disease to public health.
