Abstract

This study evaluated the presence of lytic bacteriophagues of Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) in farms and slaughterhouses in São Paulo State northwest region. One hundred two samples from vaccinated breeder hens, salmonella-positive poultry, and slaughterhouses were assessed. No lytic bacteriophagues of SE were detected in the samples. We infer that the absence of bacteriophagues may be caused by vaccination against SE and good biosecurity practices in field.
