TOXOCARÍASE HUMANA: RISCO DE INFECÇÃO ALIMENTAR?

Resumo

A infecção humana pelo Toxocara canis ou pelo T. cati pode levar a uma série de síndromes denominadas toxocaríase visceral, toxocaríase ocular e a toxocaríase oculta. Normalmente a infecção do homem se dá pela ingestão de ovos larvados presentes no solo, água, alimentos ou no pelo de animais infectados, mas a literatura registra uma série de casos onde as infecções podem ser devidas a ingestão de larvas em hospedeiros paratênicos, normalmente aves ou bovinos. Este trabalho revisa os casos humanos atribuídos à ingestão de produtos de origem animal, bem como a ocorrência e estudo da infecção pelo T. canis e T. cati em animais de produção.
