A total of 27 Nellore breed steers were confined and distributed according to a rondomized
block design to evaluate the digestibilities of dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber
and acid detergent fiber using indigestible acid detergent fiber as internal marker, in 3 diets:
MI, with grounded corn as the single energetic source; MICS, with soybean hulls substituting
partialy the grounded corn (70%) in this diet and MIFGM, with corn germ meal substituting
partialy the grounded corn (70%) in this diet. Statistical analysis did not show significative
differences (P>0.05) among digestibilities of each diet (60.2; 60.0 and 59.2% for MI, MICS
and MIFGM diet), even the diet with soybean hulls having higher fiber levels (42%) among
the 3 diets. Statistical differences was not found (P>0.05) for the digestibilities of crude
protein, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber, for the 3 diets. Partial substitution of
grounded corn by soybean hulls or corn germ meal in steer diets did not affect the digestibility
of nutrients.
