Abstract

The control of dogs free on the streets is necessary and the catch, the system of records, the mass sterilization and health education are the most indicated methods to the benefit of Public Health. In the state of Sao Paulo, is prohibited the donation of apparently healthy dogs, caught by the municipal power, for higher education institutions in the development of practical classes. Many alternative teaching methods in the field of biomedical sciences, though show success in replacing the conventional methods, need a constant evaluation to provide a satisfactory academic development for students. Thus, this work shows the advantages and disadvantages of using live animals such as dogs caught the streets, in the development of a full academic technical training regarding certain practices of teaching.
