Abstract

In adults, the stem cells are found at the bone marrow and their isolation could be accessed by aspiration technique. This experiment aimed to evaluate the bone marrow aspiration technique and define a protocol for isolation of equine mononuclear cells. Twelve horses were submitted to bone marrow aspiration. After isolation of mononuclear cells by density gradient, the cell viability was determined obtaining a media of 86.9% of viable cells. According to the more knowledge obtained, the stem cell harvest experiment and clinical approach can be implemented in this specie.
