Abstract

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a preparation of whole blood that contains several important growth factors in cell proliferation and differentiation, angiogenesis, and synthesis and deposition of extracellular matrix. There are several studies in the literature about the action of PRP in the repair of musculoskeletal injuries and skin in several species, with promising results. Thus, the objective of this review is to describe the properties of the PRP, as well as its therapeutic application in musculoskeletal tissues and skin, but with particular focus on the equine species.
