USO DE ANTIMICROBIANOS EN PORCINADO: INDICACIONES Y RESTRICCIONES.

Resumen

Los antimicrobianos se han utilizado en la producción animal desde la década de 1960, en la cría de cerdos de cuatro maneras diferentes: como promotores del crecimiento, profilácticos, metafilácticos y terapéuticos. El uso indiscriminado, combinado con subdosis, clases equivocadas y destino inadecuado de los desechos, es un problema no solo para los productores y trabajadores en el área, sino también para la salud pública y ambiental. Se cree que alternativas como la vigilancia y el diagnóstico de uso en la producción animal, así como la encuesta y promoción de una base de datos para caracterizar, determinar o restringir su uso, pueden reducir la incidencia de genes de resistencia. Algunas alternativas para reducir su uso están vinculadas a la calidad de salud del rebaño, abarcando aspectos como la bioseguridad, el uso de un programa completo de vacunación y la promoción del bienestar animal. Muchos países y organizaciones también están promoviendo políticas para controlar el uso de estas sustancias en la producción animal. El uso de antimicrobianos en los cerdos tiende a reducirse mediante campañas de sensibilización y capacitación de los productores, advirtiendo sobre el uso racional de estos medicamentos para combatir la resistencia bacteriana y aprovechar su eficacia de manera segura. Esta revisión busca dilucidar algunos puntos del uso de antimicrobianos en la cría de cerdos brasileños, así como sus posibles impactos, restricciones y alternativas.
