Abstract

Studies about modalities and mechanisms of dormancy in tropical seeds species are relatively new. Focused on this, the objective is obtain this seeds mechanisms in M. chaseae by preliminar results, harvested in Nhecolândia subregion, Pantanal, MS, Brazil, by chemical process (H2SO4, destilled water, sodium hypochlorite) and mechanical (anthecium removal). Dormancy in M. chaseae was proved, where a waterproof coating to the oxigen was the most cause, however must be most dormancy mechanisms envolved, where uven if trated with only cariopse the dormency persists. The chemical treatments used weren’t suficients to break up the all dormancy. But we shoud’nt refeet the possibility of seed quiscentes, highlighting necessitate researchs and related causes.
